Kids and Families
At St Mary Mags, we believe kids are as important to us as anyone else, and that church belongs to them just as much as it does to adults. Children stay with us throughout the service, joining in with the words in bold alongside everyone else.
We know that being part of a service can look a little different for a child than it does for a grown-up, and that's more than okay with us. Please don't worry about any noise or running around your child does while we're together. We'd far rather have a church that's full of freedom, fun, excitement and energy than one that's quiet and still because that's what kids need, and that's what they love.
So, if you hear a bit of chatter, see some little feet running down the aisle, or notice a toy make an appearance mid-sermon, know that it's welcome here. It's not a distraction from worship; it's part of it.
We have kids' activity packs, toys and books at the back of church to help kids have a great time whilst they are with us.

During the week
Grand junction, a local partner of ours, run various kids’ clubs, such as baby sing and play, Junior Climate Champions, and a weekly youth club. There are also various family theatre shows.
St Mary Magdalene and St Stephen's
We are proud of our relationship with our parish primary school, St Mary Magdalene and St Stephen's. The school is one form entry. Following the teachings of St Paul, the school's vision — "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" — lies at the foundation of everything the school does. On this, they build and foster the virtues of Moral Courage, Compassion, Forgiveness, Thankfulness and Koinonia.
The community is a vibrant place which reflects its local multicultural community. The school is somewhere children can grow in confidence and pursue their passions, alongside achieving high academic standards. We hold weekly collective worship in the church, as well as termly services and reflective prayer spaces. Rev Kirstine serves on the governing body.

Safeguarding
We believe every person has a value and dignity, which comes directly from the creation of people in God’s image. Christians see this potential as fulfilled by God’s re-creation of us in Christ. Among other things this implies a duty to value all people as bearing the image of God and therefore to protect them from harm.
We undertake to exercise proper care in the selection, appointment, training and support of those working with children or adults at risk.
We accept and endorse the principles of the Church of England's Safeguarding Policy: ‘Promoting a Safer Church’ and follow the practice guidance of the National Church.
We commit ourselves to nurture, protect and safeguard all our members, particularly children, young people and adults at risk.
We recognise that safeguarding is the responsibility of the whole church community.
We will respond without delay to concerns or allegations that a child or adult at risk may have been harmed, cooperating fully in any investigation
We will challenge any abuse of power by anyone in a position of trust
We will seek to offer pastoral care to anyone who has suffered abuse.
We will seek to offer pastoral care and support, including supervision and referral to the proper authorities, to any member of our church community known to have offended against a child, young person or adult at risk.
